Meet the Staff
Hot Glass Academy’s staff and instructors are selected by the founder, Devan Cole. Many of our team members have been colleagues for years in the field of glass art and education. As a team, we are constantly exploring and developing new strategies for creative applications in our field.
Hot Glass Academy is glass art on the go! Our team are experienced and passionate makers, creators, craftsmen, sculptors, writers, philosophers, marketers, entertainers, students, educators, publishers, editors, problem solvers, applicants, community members, business owners, entrepreneurs, hikers, fishers, sportsmen, risk takers, table makers, place setters, cooks, bakers, carpenters, fabricators, casters, fusers, torch workers, scientists, chemists, researchers, pet owners, sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, grandfathers, grandmothers, crazy uncles, crazy aunts, geeks, nerds, social media marketers, mechanics, truck drivers, travelers, lovers, and one of a kind artists.

Founder, Professional Glass Blower
Hot Glass Academy Founder Devan Cole graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Rochester Institute of Technology in 2009, and like many glass artists, wondered what was next. In 2011, Devan worked as an intern at Simon Pearce in Vermont, and then become an artist in residence at Salem Art Works in Salem, NY. These positions reaffirmed his desire to pursue a profession in art education. Devan occupied a position at Georgia Southwestern State University as a post-Baccalaureate student from 2012-2015. Hot Glass Academy grew from teaching workshops at Salem Art Works, Firefly Hotglass Studio in Durham, NC, Robert College in Istanbul, Turkey, and Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus, GA. Devan has also provided hot glass demonstrations at special events across the U.S. From these experiences Devan Cole has built a repertoire of specialized classes and demonstrations that he now takes on the road.

The Founder like many glass artists graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Art and wondered what was next.
